IVAN GUTIERREZ

Born in Chicago, I have always loved diversity and public art. I found myself fascinated with the artwork from each culture's history and the materials and intentions involved. Visiting family in Mexico while growing up, I appreciated the handmade artistry involved with the crafts and products sold in local markets and on the streets. I found myself critiquing products on shelves and in magazines - always questioning how they can be improved or how the techniques involved can be applied to other products.

After winning a full year free scholarship at the American Academy of Art during an art competition, I explored traditional methods of the Masters and modern capabilities using current technology. I don't use AI because it takes more time to get the exact results you desire and they do not often provide multiple, versatile artwork. Instead, I study the marketplace and apply a clear art direction that will satisfy my clients and impress their customers.

 

It was only natural that I became a product developer at the Bradford Exchange where I thrived in presenting ideas for modern licenses or introduced new and exciting product concepts based on extensive marketplace competitor research. I worked on coin products for prestigious licenses such as Disney, NBA, NFL, NASA, MLK (estate), Elvis, RCAF, Harry Potter, and more. I introduced new product designs to save on costs and enhance the product by communicating with our vendors and reworking their techniques into creative solutions. My work ethic, quality of products, and resulting profits led to me receiving the highest salary raise in 2022 and 2023. I left the company in 2024 due to relocating to West Palm Beach, where I currently reside.

Now, I retouch luxury furniture and surfaces on yachts and mansions from Jupiter to West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale to Miami. I mostly repair dents, scratches, and water damage on wood using various chemical and artistic processes. My favorite part of the job is repainting faux wood grain to look exactly like the original wood surface, even down to the glossy sheen. My job is flexible, which allows me to schedule time for murals or photoshoots any day of the week based on clients' priorities. I have also volunteered for the Arts in Public Places Administration of Palm Beach County and The Artwork of Reuben Hale Nonprofit Museum.

I strive to create everyday. Whether it's a small or big project, I treat each with a great deal of care, attention, and dedication. I also support my community, always promoting artists, musicians, and other business owners I meet.
